Service: Gerry Piazza has long been known among Bay Area racers for his frame and wheel straightening abilities. If you have spent a lot of time trying to optimize the handling of your bike, but have met with only mixed results, frame misalignment may be the culprit. If you're finding that your bike seems to turn one way better than the other, or you are crashing frequently, it's possible that your bike is out of alignment. Falling into or fighting going into turns, as well as headshake or tankslappers, can indicate alignment problems, especially if all the other possible contributing factors have been addressed. Gerry's experience and ability, when applied in conjunction with hydraulic forces on your bike in our frame rack, take the guesswork out of chassis alignment, helping ensure that you can get the best combination of handling and stability out of your bike. Whether you ride on the street or track, if your bike has been crashed, we strongly urge you to bring it in for inspection and, if necessary, correction. In the quest to make modern sportbikes as light as possible, manufacturers pare weight wherever possible. Consequently, frames that were once overbuilt are now designed with lightness as a primary design objective. These highly engineered super-light frames can handle the power modern bikes produce, but the impact of a crash can exceed the strength limits of the frame. Even a low speed crash can result in misalignment, bending, or cracking of the frames and related components. The same holds true for wheels. Reducing unsprung weight is a proven path to improved handling and suspension action; however, engineering at the vanguard of performance is often an exercise in compromise. When you add lightness, you generally subtract strength and durability. A dinged or out-of-round wheel is at best a hindrance to proper handling, and at worst a crash waiting to happen. Often a bent wheel can be straightened by MotoMorphic, saving the customer considerable money over the cost of replacement. When you bring us your motorcycle or components for evaluation, we will inspect for alignment, bends, and cracks, and then repair or replace as needed. We can't guarantee that we will be able to resuscitate a badly crashed motorcycle, but we can give you an honest and expert appraisal of your bike's condition. If it can be rectified in a safe and cost-effective manner, we can fix it. Also included in our straightening repertoire are forks, brake rotors, triple clamps, axles, swingarms, and subframes. In short, just about any component that can be bent. Of course, if something is bent to the point that it wouldn't be safe to straighten, we will bring it to your attention rather than risk jeopardizing the integrity or function of the part, or the bike on the whole. The service rate for straightening is $120/hr.
